Recently, Kim Kardashian visited an orphanage in Thailand.
The run-down orphanage is in the Phang Nga province where thousands lost their lives to the 2004 tsunami that devastated the region.
While Kim was there, she took a liking to a 13-year-old girl named Pink. Kim liked Pink so much, she wanted to adopt her. When Pink first heard about that prospect, she said,
When I found out she wanted to adopt me, I was shaking. I was so excited. It would be such a change of life for me.
After careful consideration, Pink declined the gracious offer. She decided to forego the chance for a glamorous life in America so she could stay in Thailand to study and help her fellow orphans. Pink said,
Everyone wants to have a different or a better life, I suppose. But when I thought about it I realised it wouldn’t be good for me, because I would have to leave so much behind. I wasn’t ready for that.
That’s a pretty bold decision for an impoverished teenager to make.
But, I’m sure having Kim Kardashian as your mother might be as terrible as living in abject poverty in its own special way.
