Christie Fletcher doesn’t trust her birth control pill — and with good reason.
The Daily Mail reports the 22-year-old from Glyn Ceiriog, Wrexham, in Wales, reportedly found herself pregnant with triplets while taking her birth control pill “religiously.”
Fletcher said her eldest son, 2-year-old Osian, was also born while she was on the pill, but that she hadn’t been taking it on the right schedule at that point.
She told press,
After I had [Osian], I was so strict about taking my pill every day as according to instructions. I took it religiously at the same time every single day.
There was no way on earth I ever thought I’d end up pregnant again.
She recently gave birth to extremely rare fraternal triplet sons, making her the mother of four young boys at the same time.
It’s a busy home, but Fletcher says she’s absolutely content with a large family that includes partner Carwyn, 27.
After experiencing out of control hormones and feeling sick, Fletcher visited the doctor, who confirmed the pregnancy.
Just eight months later, Fletcher gave birth to Jorj, Isaac and Jac.
All three of the tiny infants weighed between four and five pounds, but have been growing steadily.
Naturally conceived triplets only account for one in 8,000 births, according to the UK National Health Service’s Dr. Surabhi Nanda. The odds of natural non-identical twins are 25,000 to one.
It’s even more rare to have fraternal triplets, let alone those conceived while taking birth control.
Fletcher told the Daily Mail she’s finished having children for now, and hopes to get a hormonal implant in lieu of birth control pills.
She and Carwyn aren’t taking any chances this time around, no matter how adorable the accidental results.
