Bobbi Boyden is a 19-month-old toddler known as Baby Beyonce, who caused a furore this week when footage emerged of her performing a provocative dance routine at a child beauty pageant.
She had wore a black leotard and curled hairpiece, beauty queen Bobbi Boyden shakes her hips and blows kisses to the audience as part of her ‘Single Ladies’ routine.
Her mother said: ‘She loves the attention of being up on stage and she screams to get up there. She’s definitely a diva. I have to hold her back’
Bobbi ‘s mother came under attack for allowing her daughter to behave in a s*xualised manner at such a young age.
‘Parents choose different hobbies for their children — it might be ballet, it might be horse-riding. This is just our hobby,’ she says.
Her father Anton said: ‘I thought the Beyonce routine was inappropriate when Steph first told me about it, but when I saw her on the stage doing it, it worked out quite well’
The mother added ‘I’d taken Eleanor and Demi to a pageant earlier in the month after a friend put up a notice on Facebook about it,’ says Stephanie. ‘It was actually quite emotional; beautiful. Seeing your children, who are not massively confident kids, smiling on stage is amazing. I was crying.
‘The pageant Bobbi went to a few weeks later had a jungle theme, and Bobbi wore a leopard-print outfit as Queen of the Jungle. She was awarded the title Little Novice Supreme that day, and won a crown. All the children win a crown, though — no one is left out.’
‘We could see straight away that Bobbi was a natural,’ says Stephanie. ‘I go on stage with her and encourage her to wave to the audience or to blow a kiss — but Bobbi mostly does her own thing.’
