The issue of Blackberry getting hot while in use or even when you are not using it is a very serious one with BB phones before version 10. Blackberry has tackled this with a great degree of success if what I observed on the Blackberry Q10 and Z10 that I have used and seen are anything to go by.
I said “to a great degree” because I don’t believe the problem has been fully solved. There have been times I woke up to see an almost drained battery on my BB Q10; with the phone overly warm. If not hot. A friend even joked once that witches came to use my phone in the night when we met my phone so hot in the morning.
So, how do I stop or minimize Blackberry Phone from getting hot?
The Blackberry phones get hot when trying to connect to wireless networks, especially switching from EDGE to 3G and vice versa. Blackberry smartphone can get really hot at other times like when you are downloading or running too many applications at a time. This is what I have observed.
So, the best way to minimize how warm or hot your Blackberry gets is to stick to either 2G or 3G. If you leave it at 2G or 3G, you have given the phone the liberty to switch from one mode to another depending on which (2G or 3G) is stronger. The phone does a lot of work trying to determine which is stronger.
Your Blackberry battery or phone will also get warm when powering on, being charged, during long calls, and especially when using data intensive features like streaming media or GPS. If you also leave your Blackberry browser open, it makes your phone warm or hot.
The solution to this is that you should always try to close applications correctly. Avoid using the End key to close applications as this simply minimizes the application and leaves it running in the background. What you should do is press the Menu key, select the Close or Exit option to exit the application.
These suggestions will not stop your Blackberry from getting hot in its entirety but will reduce it significantly.
