An Australian father smothered his two toddler daughters to death after filming them dancing to “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen.”
Prosecutors said that Charles Amon Mihayo, 36, dressed 4-year-old Savannah and 3-year-old Indianna in ballet dresses on Easter Sunday before videotaping their performance and playing hide-and-seek.
He murdered them with a pillow, gave them a bath, put their clothes back on and called the police.
The Tanzania native was revealed to have killed the girls just after discovering that their mother, his ex-wife, had a new boyfriend.
He told a colleague that he had been thinking about killing the woman as soon as they broke up.
Mihayo, of Melbourne, even Googled “how can I kill my ex-wife” four days before killing his daughters.
He claims that the murders of the children, however, were not premeditated.
He told police,
That just happened, it just happened right then and there.
Mihayo told the court that he was driven over the edge by the thought of his daughters growing up without their father, like he did.
He killed them, he said, to prevent this from happening.
He explained,
I thought, well, if the kids are not there, they are not going to suffer the way I suffered, knowing their dad is somewhere but you never get to see him.
Mihayo is awaiting sentencing as the trial continues.
