But by then the worms had started nibbling through the side of Ms Miloranza's face.
A horrified employee raised the alarm when he discovered just how bad Ms Miloranza’s face looked.
The grandmother's case was brought to the attention of Argentina's health chief
When his employees failed to act he took the story to local press.
The man — who wished to remain anonymous — said: “This is not the first time this has happened.
“The grandma is very hurt, but she hasn’t filed a complaint due to her vulnerable state."
State health chief Marcelo Musso condemned the incident in a public statement.
“What happened is very serious and should not happen again,” he said.
The care home, in Lujan, Buenos Aires, has six nurses caring for 65 elderly residents who live in shared rooms.
