An angry mother has beaten her daughter to death over a minor incident is now going to face the full weight of the law.
Jazmine Jones

Police in Chicago have arrested an 18-year-old woman for allegedly beating his daughter to death because she refused to eat her food. Prosecutors in Chicago, Illinois, said that Jazmine Jones, punched her 2-year-old daughter Elliana Claiborne several times, because she did not eat her noodles which caused the little girl severe wounds.

According to Jones's boyfriend who is not the father of the child, Jones punched the toddler four or five times in the stomach and buttocks when the little girl refused, prosecutors said. The boyfriend told investigators the punches were so hard he believed "they would've knocked the wind out of him if he were the one being hit,"prosecutors said.

The boyfriend also told officials he had seen Jones beat the toddler on multiple occasions, and that she would give her "whoopings" until she cried. The boyfriend said that the severity of the beatings depended on Jones' mood. In particular if she had been "really upset" she would punch the child on her body, prosecutors said.

After Saturday's beating, Jones left the home to buy marijuana. When she returned, she gave the toddler laxatives and juice because the toddler appeared sick and could not use the restroom. The toddler's stomach appeared swollen, and the girl told Jones she was in pain, prosecutors said.

They all thought everything was okay until the morning they woke up to discover that the child had died. The child was rushed to the St. Bernard Hospital, where she was declared dead. Jones is notorious for her bad history of child care support. Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Przekota said at a bond hearing that the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services took the toddler from Jones last year.

DCFS officials were investigating the biological parents for the abuse and neglect of Elliana. However, they did not explain why Elliana was returned to Jones. Jones is being held in lieu of $1 million bond on a charge of child abuse in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
