Vidal proposed to his girlfriend in the middle of a busy motorway
A man who allegedly shut down a busy motorway to propose to his girlfriend thereby risking his own life. The man identified as Vidal Valladares Navas, 24, allegedly forced traffic to back up on Interstate 45 in Houston, Texas for ten minutes as drivers had to sit and watch him get down on one knee earlier this week and propose to his girlfriend.
The man's 23-year-old girlfriend Michelle Wycoff (now fiance), said ‘yes’ – but criminal charges may mean the wedding has to take a back seat. He was arrested by police and could face up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000 after being charged with obstructing a roadway, a Class B misdemeanor.
Vidal chose the awkward venue because because the two went for a motorbike ride there on their second date, it was revealed. Reports say he is regretting the hassle it caused everyone, including a pregnant woman trying to get to hospital to deliver her baby.
‘I’m wanting to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems. That wasn’t my intention in the beginning. I just wanted to do something different,’ he told ABC’s Eyewitness News, adding that he is prepared to face any legal consequences.
In a photo of the proposal on his Facebook, Vidal had said: ‘When you shut down one of the biggest and busiest freeways in the entire country (I-45) and you ask your girl if she wants to marry u, That moment is priceless love u #shesaidyes.’
