On his return home to America from a trip to Panama, a man calling himself Simon learned that he had brought with him an unwelcome stowaway.
The giant botfly maggot had to be removed from the man’s head with tweezers after it had been allowed to grow there for a month.
And, because this is 2015, Simon grabbed his 15 minutes of fame by recording the process and posting it to YouTube for the world to see. Oh, joy.
“A souvenir from Panama, it was growing in my head for a month before it was big enough to pull out,” he wrote on YouTube, according to the U.K. Daily Mail. “Yeah its a little bit disgusting but I added some Vivaldi so its fine…”
Right. Vivaldi. That ought to take care of it.
The video began — prior to the Vivaldi — with a shot of Simon’s head with what appeared to be a portion of the maggot’s body poking through the skin.
“This is seriously insane,” a bystander commented.
It got worse from there. But if you’re still reading this, you’re obvious the possessor of a strong stomach, so you can just watch the process for yourself.
If by some change you are not strong of stomach — or are for some reason bothered by the idea of a maggot living in a man’s head for a month and “pooping” through his skin without his noticing — you might want to skip this one.
OK, you’ve been warned. Here it is, and may God have mercy on your soul:
I don’t want to cast aspersions on anyone here but, given that it took Simon a month to notice this thing, I have to wonder what else he might have been bringing into the United States from Panama that U.S. Customs didn’t notice.
