No fewer than four security personnel were killed by gunmen in an armed attack in Saqqara, 22 miles south of Cairo, security sources said on Saturday. One of the sources said the two attackers were riding a motor bike when they opened fire using machine guns at a checkpoint in Saqqara, a Cairo suburb and site of some of Egypt’s oldest pyramids.
Egypt is fighting Islamist militants that have killed several security personnel in the North African nation since former president Mohammed Mursi was overthrown by military last year.
