Carlos Leon Pineda (inset) was arrested in the death of his girlfriend, Miriam Velez-Samayoa.
A man who allegedly burned his girlfriend to death in their Queens apartment has been arrested by the police.
Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, was found burned in the bathtub of the Jamaica apartment she shared with her unemployed boyfriend and several other immigrants on Saturday, Oct. 17, said cops and witnesses. She was pronounced dead at the scene, New York Post reports.
Velez-Samayoa’s body was found doused in fuel, and cops discovered a gas canister in the bedroom after they responded to a 911 report of an assault at the third-floor apartment, on 90th Avenue near 148th Street. Neigbours said the two had quarreled.
Her boyfriend, Carlos Leon Pineda, 27, was arrested and charged with murder, arson, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence. Velez-Samayoa’s brother-in-law, Roberto Castro, 32, told The Post the day of the incident that the couple met a few months before on Facebook.
