Police in United Kingdom have arrested a man for kicking his girlfriend in the stomach causing the death of her baby.

According to authorities, the 22-year-old man identified as Kevin Wilson was arrested after being accused of killing his unborn son by assaulting 22-year-old Malorie Bantala who was 9-months pregnant with his son.

Police revealed that Wilson kicked and assaulted the girlfriend because of her refusal to abort the baby. He was charged with one count of child destruction and one count of grievous bodily harm.

Police investigation also revealed how the story all started. According to the report, Bantala met Wilson several years ago as a student while they studied in the same college. They had a sexual relationship for a year, and then remained on friendly terms, but occasionally had sex.

In May, Miss Bantala was annoyed to learn on social media that Wilson had moved on and she confided in a mutual friend that he was the father of her unborn child. Wilson found out and accused her of sleeping around, but she responded by visiting his home and telling his mother that her son had made her pregnant, jurors were told.

Wilson became irate and confrontational when Bantala told him that she was pregnant for him which didn't go down well with him. He told her he wasn't ready to be a father and asked her to remove the baby. She refused. Wilson then decided to take laws in his own hands and attempted unsuccessfully to remove the baby while spreading rumours that the baby wasn't his own and that Bantala was sleeping around.

On the fateful day the sad incident happened, Wilson and his 17-year-old accomplice, met Bantala on the street outside her home around 8:00 p.m and began kicking her numerous times in the stomach in an effort to force the baby's abortion. It was during the process that the baby died.

Jurors heard that the pair were disguised in motorcycle helmets as they attacked her stomach, leaving her with life-threatening injuries. Miss Bantala's baby boy was delivered stillborn by emergency Caesarian section at 32 weeks gestation.

A post-mortem examination of the foetus found that if it had not been for the assault, there was no reason why he would not have been born alive and a DNA test confirmed that Wilson was the father. However, Wilson denied taking part in the attack on his ex-girlfriend, and told police he was visiting his brother and a friend on his estate at the time.

The trial continues...
