The Dutchman was dragged off at half-time against Arsenal and the Old Trafford legend has given him a dressing down over his conduct.
The Dutch international has been carpeted by Manchester United’s assistant boss for his off-field antics after a no-show at the Emirates last week.
It is understood that Depay was dragged off at half-time against Arsenal for failing to track back and help out an overrun defence.
And the mood in the camp after the 3-0 defeat by the Gunners was not helped when it came to light that Depay subsequently went out on the town.
The confident 21 year old, a £25million summer signing from PSV Eindhoven, has worried some senior stars at Old Trafford with his flashy lifestyle.
And he’s been advised to tone it down while he struggles to adapt to the pace of the Premier League.
Depay has shown only glimpses of his talent since joining United.
Though he has scored three times in two Champions League games, one a pre-qualifier against Bruges, Old Trafford staffs are demanding more from him.
The winger, who arrived in Manchester with a big reputation, has scored only once in eight Premier League games. It’s believed Giggs would like Depay to adopt a lower profile while he gets to grips with English football.
An insider told Sunday People Sport: “Memphis is photographed out and about more than other players and that’s not gone unnoticed.
“He’s been told to keep his head down a bit while his football catches up with the rest of his profile.”
