Jackson came into the limelight in 2008 when he featured a CNN documentary of the struggles of Kenyan gay men. In 2013, picture of him being assaulted for being dressed up like a girl broke the internet.

Kenyans have reacted negatively towards the US passing the same sex marriage laws with a number of religious and political leaders warning Obama from talking about gay rights when he comes to Kenya ahead of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

In recent weeks, all eyes have been on Caitlyn Jenner, who transitioned from being a man known as Bruce Jenner to a woman. The stepfather of the famous Kardashian sisters has inspired a Kenyan by the name, Jackson ‘Jaffar’ Irungu to take a similar route.

In a series of photos posted on social media last week, Jackson declared that he has been living in the wrong body for as long as he can remember and finally decided to ‘open up to the world’. ‘Feeling like I have been living in the wrong body for as long as I can remember.
