Puflea, who is a criminology and forensic science graduate of the University of Hull, had booked the room online
However, when she arrived, Puflea was denied access to the room. A staff member told her “I’m sorry, but we do not accept Romanians.”
Puflea called the police as she felt that she was being discriminated against.
She was later told that the hotel had introduced a policy, banning women from Romania to use their rooms because some of them had used the hotel for prostitution.
The Holiday Inn Express apologized and insisted that Puflea “was absolutely not refused on racial grounds.”
The hotel chain said that there had been a “misunderstanding” due to the similarity with other suspicious bookings they had received.
