A man and his 7 children have been found dead in their home in Princess Anne, Maryland. The children range in age from 6 years to the teens.

The deceased are believed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning after the father, 36-year old Rodney Todd turned on a generator in a bid to keep his family warm after the power was cut because of an unpaid bill.

Todd's stepfather Lloyd Edwards, said that Mr Todd, his 2 sons and 5 daughters died when "the carbon monoxide consumed them"

Edwards added that his stepson bought the generator after the power was shut off to their home, while a spokesman for the local power company would not say whether the power to the home was cut off, only that it was being investigated.

Police, who were first alerted when Todd's co-worker became concerned that he had not come to work in several days, have ruled out foul play in the deaths after finding a generator with no fuel in the home's kitchen.

Investigations on the cause of death are however still underway.
