Pedro set to make his Chelsea debut on Sunday

The agent of Spanish forward Pedro has accused Manchester United officials of 'falling asleep' as they failed to close out a deal for the player who joined Chelsea this week.

United claim they made the decision to withdraw from discussions over the purchase of Pedro, with their declaration that they were no longer interested in the player coming after news broke that he had agreed to join Chelsea.
Now Pedro's agent Antonio Sanz has offered an alternative view to one of the most talked about transfers of the summer, as he spoke to Radio Club Tenerife.
"Maybe Manchester United fell asleep," he stated, after concluding the £21.4 deal that saw his client join the Premier League champions.
"The negotiation with Chelsea was like a lightning bolt. It is common knowledge that United were in the bidding for Pedro, but Chelsea were faster and within 24 hours reached an agreement with the club. It was a whirlwind."
United appear to be content that they did not sign Pedro, with their manager Louis van Gaal stating he could have signed the player if he wanted to.
"I think when Manchester United wants a player he shall come, except when the club is not selling," declared Van Gaal.
Meanwhile, one of the more remarkable transfer stories of the summer has appeared on the back page of The Sun, as they claim United are in secret talks to sign Brazil's Barcelona superstar Neymar.
That bizarre story brought a predictable response on twitter:
