Thousands of people face a third day without power after winds of more than 100mph battered northern Britain and ice, snow and sleet is set to cause transport chaos in much of England this week.
In Scotland winds reached up to 113mph at the weekend, leaving 100,000 homes in Inverness-shire, Oban, Perth and Shetland without any power.
Engineers are currently battling snow, ice and hurricane force winds and say they hope around 9,800 homes in north and west Scotland still without any energy should be reconnected by this evening.
