George Clooney’s Wedding Cost About $1.6 Million!

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's three-day wedding extravaganza certainly looked like a lavish affair. And now we know there was a hefty price tag to match.

According to People magazine – which scored exclusive photos and details for its latest issue – the tab for the Sept. 27 Venice, Italy nuptials was around a whopping $1.6 million.

The magazine's source shot down reports that the celebrations ran as much as $13 million and rumors that the bride's family footed the bill.

The ceremony, which took place at the posh Aman Canal Grande resort, was a star-studded affair, with around 100 guests, including Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, John Krasinski and wife Emily Blunt, Bono, Ellen Barkin, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Additional festivities took place at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani.

The newlyweds didn’t skimp on details -- from his Armani tux to her glamorous Oscar de la Renta gown, to the couple's platinum wedding bands. Party favors reportedly included iPods loaded with a playlist selected by the bride and groom. 

Wedding guests toasted the happy couple with Clooney-provided alcohol. The star, who owns Casamigos Tequila with Gerber, reportedly flew in 100 cases for the weekend — so at least he got a break on the bar tab.

Though destination weddings are never cheap, the couple said they couldn't imagine tying the knot anywhere else. "We met in Italy," Clooney, who owns a Lake Como villa, told Chi-chi's Source "We have a home there. We knew that was where we wanted to get married."

So, what do you buy the guy who hosts the perfect wedding?

"You don’t buy [him] anything,” wedding guest Bill Murray told Vanity Fair, adding that guests were told not to bring gifts.

In this case, "Presence" really did matter more than "presents.”
